Several Reasons to Get Pet Insurance

As pet owners, we all wish for our pets to have long, healthy lives that are free of any tragic incidents. We think the same for ourselves, and like any misfortune, it is always unexpected and surprising. That is why we carry insurance, including car, health, and life insurance, in order to protect us against sudden negative events. Pets are subject to some of the same things we are, which is why insurance is something everybody should consider getting for their pet.

We sometimes forget how expensive pet treatments can be. Certain surgeries can reach thousands of dollars, but with pet insurance, the majority of that would be covered. When pets get old, it is nice to have some kind of insurance, as you can give them treatments that they otherwise would not be able to receive.

Taking Your Pet on Vacation

Hooray! It is that time of year again! Time to pack up the house, the car and the family, and head out to enjoy a respite from the daily grind…VACATION! Summer vacations are often taken in close proximity to the water (the ocean, a mountain lake, fishing in a stream, etc) so we may include our “furry family” members, too!

Now, you are enjoying your get-away, and everything is PERFECT – until there is an accident and perhaps a serious injury. It happens: new surroundings, curious minds and then, one misstep. If it is a child, we immediately rush them to the nearest emergency room to get treatment, regardless of the cost, right? But what if it is our beloved pet? What do we do then?

Fortunately, there are also emergency clinics for pets, and although you might have to travel a bit further to reach an animal clinic, you can rest assured they, too, will be treated – but at what cost?

Why Buy Cat Insurance?

You probably have some kind of health insurance plan for your family so why not have a health insurance plan for your cat. That is essentially what cat insurance is.

Cats develop health problems just like humans do. If you have an older cat or one that was very expensive to buy, or one that is of a breed that is known to have certain medical problems then cat insurance becomes even more important.

Based on your own budget and needs you can purchase exactly what range of coverage you are going to need.

You purchase cat insurance to protect you in the event of a financial loss not to make a profit. The most basic and affordable type of pet insurance coverage is for accidents. Your cat insurance policy should be as comprehensive as possible and cover as many risks as you can afford.

Unfortunately many cat owners will overlook obtaining cat insurance until it is too late. Compared to car or home insurance – premiums and deductibles for cats are quite low – typically in the $10 to $40 per month range depending on the coverage obtained.

Long-Term Care Insurance – When is the Best Time to Plan and Purchase Long-Term Care Insurance?

One of the more difficult retirement planning decisions are whether or not to buy long-term care insurance and, if so, at what age to purchase it. Long-term care planning is usually the one that is most overlooked. Most people do not picture themselves as old and needing care with daily activities, so long-term care planning is put on the back burner. In comparison, life insurance is usually purchased (at a young age), just in case of death in order to protect their families.

Long-Term care insurance hasn’t been around as long a life insurance, but plays an important part in protecting families in a variety of ways. Having a long-term care plan in place by purchasing long-term care insurance, gives you the ability to choose where and how you receive care. Staying in your home with the assistance of outside help will be paid for as well as receiving care in a variety of settings. You won’t be a burden on your family. Your family will remain what they should be, family not caregivers. And your assets will be protected.

Obama's Health Insurance Plan – How to Use Government Money to Find Cheap Health Insurance Providers

The Obama Administration has expressed interest in making a health insurance plan and policy universally available for consumers free of charge, however this could create serious potential problems for our current budget deficit and make interest rates sky rocket for loans. In this article I will take as a given that the Obama Administration is going to make a health insurance plan universally available and explain how to use government money to find cheap health insurance policies.

It is important to understand that even though the Obama Administration is positioned to make a health insurance policy universal and free for all American citizens we will all be paying for this one way or another. I say this because in order to make insurance for health free for all citizens we will undoubtedly be paying higher taxes. Thus, since we will all be paying higher taxes I feel it is our duty to find the health care insurance provider that can quote us for the lowest price. If everyone does their part to find the health care insurance company that is willing to offer the lowest quotes then we can decrease the tax burden for American citizens.

Health Savings Accounts – Making Good Use of Them

The Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) system came out of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act approved by President Bush towards the end of 2003.

HSA acts like a tax-protected savings account system. You are given a debit card for this service. If you are unable to finish it this year, the remaining money add up to the next, moving at a tax-friendly rate. When you retire, you can collect the remaining balance and use as you wish.

To qualify for an HSA, you must have a good High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP), which is a cheap, health insurance deal. Given that this deductible will include your medical expenses, the plan can also take care of preventative care, like immunizations, prenatal care and physical care services. Note that the remaining expenses, including prescriptions, are taken care of using the funds in your Health Savings Account. Every year, you and your employer can make up to your HSA and move it up to the deductible amount of your HDHP.
